We have some amazing news for Star Wars fans. The famous sci-fi franchise is now ready to enter the amazing world of manga with its next project. Titled Star Wars: Path of the Lightsaber, the manga series is being created by Kenny Ruiz and Screenrant gave everyone the first look into what the project is going to be. As per the news, the series takes place between episodes 8 and 9 of the Star Wars movie franchise.
This means the manga is set after The Last Jedi and before The Rise of Skywalker. According to the report, the manga follows a young tinkerer named Nioka who is a huge fan of Luke Skywalker. While roaming around in the ruins of a High Republic ship, Nioka finds a real lightsaber and is ecstatic. But their life will change forever as people with terrible intentions are also looking for the same lightsaber. The manga will be published by Viz Media sometime in 2025, although a release date hasn’t been confirmed yet. Japan is hosting the Star Wars Celebration 2025 this April, and more details about the manga will be revealed then.
The three movies included in the Star Wars sequel trilogy are The Force Awakens (2015), The Last Jedi (2017), and The Rise of Skywalker (2019). Unfortunately, the movies were not well-received amongst the long-time Star Wars fans. That’s why Disney has mostly avoided any projects set in the same timeline. However, since this manga is set in the canon universe, it will be interesting to see how it handles the storyline and what effect the movies have on it.
