The latest chapter of Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga featured some really great action. Mai spotted Kouki’s floating head, which was being protected by the pygmies. She saved her following Rin’s instructions. Kouki then revealed the real identity of the teacher who blackmailed her and handed her the knife.

Dandadan Chapter 185 recap
Rin controls gravity, causing the headless bodies to float up. Aira fights the rest of the Yokai and asks Rin if she could project her singing more to cover more area, but Rin says that she has a fixed range of effectiveness. Mai Kawabanga, Rin’s yokai, says that she needs to improve her singing and vocal range to be more powerful and even change outfits. Aira asks where Kouki Yukishiro is, and Rin says that she lost track of her. But Mai informs that Kouki’s head is also floating in the gym. However, Aira and Rin can’t see it because the pygmies are covering Kouki’s head and protecting her. Rin tells Mai to go and save Kouki while Aira protects her.
Mai flies to the place where Kouki’s head is suspended. Aira covers Rin, but the Class Rep is understandably scared as she can’t use her powers. Mai asks the pygmies to follow her as there’s a chance to save Kouki. She brings them down closer to the ground. Rin tells her to dunk Kouki’s head upward through the basketball hoop. Mai and the pygmies pass through the headless yokai and dunk her head upward. As soon as Kouki comes out of the other side, she gets her body back. Aira nabs both her and Rin from the air with her hair and takes them safely to the ground. Kouki informs them that the teacher blackmailing her is actually Mr. Murakami.
She says that Murakami, the gym teacher, went through the social media of students and found the girls who were breaking school rules. He then forced them to take revealing pictures of themselves and started blackmailing them. Kouki thinks he might have also given other girls similar knives as her. The girls decide that as long as they can find Murakami and defeat him, they can get out of the gym. But suddenly, the floating heads seem to get bigger and the walls start to close in. Mai reveals that since Rin is a newbie, she can only sing at full power for five more minutes. Aira tells Kouki to have the pygmies look for Murakami while they take care of the Yokai. However, the final panel shows that Murakami is not in the gym and he’s keeping an eye on them through cameras while being somewhere else.
Dandadan Chapter 185 review
The way Dandadan makes the human villains the most vile of them all will never stop surprising me. We have met many Yokai and aliens in the series, but somehow, the most disgusting acts are always committed by humans (re: Acrobatic Silky and Evil Eye backstories). This new teacher, who eats his own booger, is no different. He blackmailed young girls and committed a heinous crime. And it’s going to be immensely satisfying to see him being brought down by three powerful teenage girls, one of whom he tried to use as a pawn. I’m also eager to see the whole plan as it seems there are many different villains trying to take down Momo, Okarun, and the rest of their group.
Dandadan Chapter 186 release date
According to the Manga Plus official website, the next Dandadan update, Chapter 186, is set to release on Tuesday, 18 March, 2025 at 12 AM JST (Monday, 17 March, 2025, at 11 PM SGT, 8:30 PM IST, and 8 AM PST).
