The anime is scheduled to air sometime in 2025.

The upcoming fantasy anime, titled Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?! (or Mushoku no Eiyu: Betsu ni Sukiru Nanka Iranakattan da ga) is set to receive an anime adaptation within the year. A teaser visual featuring the protagonist, Allele, has also been revealed.

The anime is based on a series of light novels of the same title written by Shichio Kuzu and illustrated by Yumehito Umeda. The adaptation was first announced in October 2023.

Hero Without a Class cast and staff

The Hero Without a Class anime will be produced by Studio A-Cat, with Kaoru Yanaba slated as director. Chabo Higurashi is in charge of writing and supervising the series scripts, and Kento Asahina will compose the music. Yumeto Ueda and Akio Namane did the original character designs, while Hiroto Morishita is the sound director, with sound production being handled by Dax Production.

Allele will be voiced by Kensho Ono, who also voices Yuri Briar in SpyxFamily, Haru Hayate in BLUE LOCK, and Giorno Giovanna in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. Other cast members are yet to be revealed.

Kensho Ono assures fans of the series that he will do his best to voice Allele, stating that (machine-translated): “It would not be surprising if he were in despair, but he overcomes this situation with hard work, and I found him so charming that I ended up reading the original manga in one go. I will do my best to portray his charm in the anime! Please look forward to the broadcast.”

Hero Without a Class plot and other details

The Hero Without a Class light novel series was initially serialised on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website from November 2017 to May 2020, but was later acquired by Earth Star Entertainment in July 2018. Since then, four volumes have been released.

The series also received a manga adaptation, which was illustrated by Akio Nanae. The manga began serialisation in Comic Earth Star since 2018, and has a total of eight tankobon volumes as of June 2024.

One Peace Books distributes the English translation of the manga, and describes the story as:

In a world where everyone receives a Class and Skills at the age of ten, and where such revelations have a huge impact on one's life, Allele, the son of Sword Princess Farah and Archmage Leon, learns that he has… no class at all!

With no class, and no skills, all that's left for Arel is hard work. And so, he takes to training, utilizing wits and cunning to emerge as an all-new type of hero!
