The new manga will be based on the third light novel of the series.
A new Bungou Stray Dogs manga is set to start serialisation on 4 March, 2025 in Young Ace issue 4/2025!
The manga, titled ‘Bungou Stray Dogs: The Untold Origins of the Detective Agency’ will be based on the titular 3rd light novel of the series written by Kafka Asagiri. The manga will be illustrated by Tomori Adachi. The news comes from the latest Young Ace March 2025 issue released today, 4 February. The manga will also be the sixth adaptation based on the Bungou Stray Dogs light novel series.
The original light novel, which was first published in Japanese on 1 May 2015, and later released to the US on 18 February 2020, is available on Yen Press. The light novel is a prequel to the original manga series. The official blurb describes the story as:
“Over a decade before the events of the manga series, a chance encounter leads professional bodyguard Yukichi Fukuzawa to begrudgingly take an arrogant boy genius named Ranpo Edogawa under his wing. Their first job brings them to a local theater on high alert after receiving a bizarre death threat—a challenge that will require both Ranpo’s brains and Fukuzawa’s experience. The aftermath spurs Fukuzawa to establish the Armed Detective Agency, an organization that takes on dangerous jobs even the police won’t handle! Plus, get a glimpse of the agency the night before Atsushi Nakajima joined the team!”
Bungou Stray Dogs was adapted into an anime series by Bones spanning 5 seasons, which aired from 2016 to 2023. A sixth season is yet to be announced.
