The Rose of Versailles movie unveils new cast members

A new trailer containing key moments of Lady Oscar has also been released.

Based on Riyoko Ikeda’s popular historical drama manga from 1972, The Rose of Versailles movie is set to be aired in January. MAPPA, the studio behind the production of this revival anime movie, recently broadcast a new trailer for one of the main protagonists of the movie- Oscar François de Jarjayes in the official Rose of Versailles X (formerly Twitter) account. Moreover, they also revealed the names of voice actors who will join the project.

The trailer introduces Oscar François de Jarjayes, the youngest of six sisters. She was raised by her father like a boy and received military training. Her life changes when Oscar is tasked with protecting Mary Antoinette and their lives become tangled as a result. The story, although historical, has a lot of fictional elements and characters, Oscar being one of them. Riyoko Ikeda penned this manga at a very pivotal time in the 70s. The story focuses on themes such as revolution, sexuality, and much more.

The additional cast members of the film that were announced include Fumi Hirano as Madame Noailles, Hochu Otsuka as Louis XV, Saori Hayami as Rosalie, Jin Yamanoi as Colonel d'Agout, Akio Otsuka as General Bouille, Sumi Shimamoto as Madame Jarjayes, and Kensho Ono as Robespierre. Previously, the main cast of the movie was revealed. This includes Miyuki Sawashiro as Oscar François de Jarjayes, Aya Hirano as Mary Antoinette, Toshiyuki Toyonaga as André Grandier, and Kazuki Kato as Hans Axel von Fersen.
