After the transformation, not even the most brutal attacks from the Daikaiju can faze Kafka.
It was expected that after his most recent evolution, Kafka will become even stronger. However, the recent chapter of Naoya Matsumoto’s manga highlighted the insurmountable power he has gained. Going head-to-head with the monstrous Daikaiju, Kafka doesn’t seem to be bothered much by any of its attacks.

Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 122 recap

The chapter begins with Kafka realising that the ancient monster in front of him is even more powerful than it was 400 years ago. This is due to Kaiju No. 9’s added strength and intelligence. He promises to stop the disaster from spreading further and attacks the Daikaiju. However, the monster jumps upward and their clash causes a massive explosion. The enemy then slams Kafka into a building and prepares a beam attack, which is Kaiju No. 2’s specialty.
But all members of the Defense Force are stunned to see Kafka easily kicking the massive beam upwards so it won’t damage the city. He then kept jumping around from building to building, causing the Daikaiju to unleash beam after beam on him. However, Kafka evaded all the projectiles perfectly. Gen Narumi feels that it’s infuriating that the monster could fire a dozen of these projectiles without breaking a sweat while even the original monster couldn’t. He realizes that the monster in front of them is the ultimate beast.
However, what annoys him even more is that Kafka, aka No. 8, has surpassed it and become an even greater menace. As Kafka flies out of yet another rubble pile with seemingly no damage, we understand the frustration. The protagonist attacks quickly, and his constant punches finally take the Daikaiju to the ground. But before the Defense Force members can rejoice, Kafka’s voice cuts them off. He tells them to expand the restricted area to a 5 kilometer radius because ‘he’ is coming out. We then see that the body of the Daikaiju is changing again with bubbling eyes coming out of its chest.
Kaiju No. 8 Chapter 122 review

I’ve always been a massive fan of how well Matsumoto handles the action in the manga, with clear illustrations that leave no room for confusion. This is also true for the latest chapter, which came after a long one-month break. Since there was not much to it but the action, I was impressed with the amount of detail and precision that went into each panel. Even with all the movement, whenever other characters’ faces appear in the panels, we get to see their true emotions reflected in their expressions. Overall, the recent issue is a delight for those who love reading action manga for its excitement.
