Nikumura Q revealed that Sunday Webry will offer all Giant Ojou-sama chapters for free for 48 hours, starting 3 March.
Another title from AnimeJapan’s “Manga Ranking for People Who Want to See it Adapted as Anime” is making its way to the screen. Nikumura Q’s Giant Ojou-sama is officially set for a TV anime adaptation, with Tatsunoko Productions (Ping Pong the Animation, SKET Dance) handling the animation.
Author Nikumura Q announced the adaptation on their X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday (3 March):
Following the announcement, Nikumura Q shared that Sunday Webry will make all Giant Ojou-sam's chapters available for free for 48 hours from 12:00 on 3 March.
Expressing gratitude for the support, Nikumura Q shared their excitement about seeing the series animated.
They acknowledged that fans who had read the original work must have wondered, “What would this scene look like if it were animated?”—a thought they had also shared. Now that the wish has come true, they are eager to see Giant Ojou-sama reach more people through Tatsunoko Productions’ animation. Highlighting the series’ blend of love, action, and comedy, Nikumura Q hopes audiences will enjoy Oriko’s “giant charm” and encourages everyone to support the adaptation.
What is Giant Ojou-sama about?
The series follows Oriko Fujido, the young head of the Fujido Zaibatsu, a conglomerate that dominates Japan’s vending machine industry. On her fourth birthday, she asked for and received ownership of a city from her father and has cared for it ever since. However, when a monster suddenly attacks the city, her eccentric butler, Dr. Sebastian, gives her an experimental energy drink developed by his R&D team. The drink causes her to grow into a giantess, matching the attacking kaiju in size. But this is just the beginning, as more invaders are lured to her beloved city.
The manga ranked fifth in AnimeJapan’s “Manga We Want to See Animated Ranking” poll in 2023. Giant Ojou-sama originally began as a web comic on Shueisha’s Jump Rookie website, before being serialized on Shogakukan’s Sunday Webry web imprint in July 2021.
The original one-shot won Shounen Jump’s December 2020 Bronze Rookie Award, while the ongoing series has six volumes released so far. The latest volume is set for release on 12 March.
