The special anime will cover the match between Fukurodani and Mujinazaka.
After the release of the Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, depicting the match between Karasuno and Nekoma, in 2024, fans have been waiting for the final part of the anime movie duology. During a special event for the Haikyu!! anime on 2 March, 2025, it was announced that the film, titled Haikyu!! vs. Chiisaana Kyojin, is under production. Another short television anime was also revealed during the occasion.
Haikyu!! sequel movie and special anime episode details
The official website of Haikyu!! has revealed a new short trailer and teaser visual for the upcoming Chiisana Kyojin (Little Giant) movie. The same was also posted on the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the series. Produced by I.G., the film is being directed by Susumu Mitsunaka. No other details, including the release date, have been confirmed yet. The movie will adapt Haruichi Furudate’s manga from after Karasuno’s victory against Nekoma in the Nationals. Hinata and his teammates will go up against Kamemodai High School. The star player of the team is Hoshiumi Korai, another ‘Little Giant’ who has overcome the barrier of his short height, much like Hinata.
Moreover, it was also announced that a special TV episode titled Haikyu!! Bakemonotachi no Iku Tokoro, will be released soon. A teaser for the same was also released on the official YouTube account of the series. This special will follow the final match of the Nationals between Fukurodani Academy and Mujinazaka High School. Fans will get to see how Fukurodani’s star and beloved idiot Koutaro Bokuto and Mujinazaka’s ace Wakatsu Kiryu fare against each other.
