The newest instalment of Mobile Suit Gundam has hit number 10 in the US box office after a stellar premiere.
The Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX pre-series movie, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-, debuted at number 10 at the U.S. box office. The movie's U.S. theatre run has pulled in over US$900,000 thus far. It was an impressive number for a limited anime release in the overseas market. The movie was released by GKIDS for viewers in the United States, with the film premiering on 28 February.
GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-, just as the name implies, kicks off the Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX anime series. The movie took scenes from the upcoming series' first few episodes and compiled them for a single screening. The anime series will be released on 8 April.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX tells the story of Yuzuriha “Machu” Amate, who is selected as the pilot of the titular Gundam GQuuuuuuX. She is a high school student living a quiet life in a space colony. However, her life becomes chaotic after meeting Nyaan, a war refugee.
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is the first series in the long line of Mobile Suit Gundam series to be co-produced by Studio Khara. Hideaki Anno from Neon Genesis Evangelion fame was chosen to be the writer and the storyboard for the series, while Kazuya Tsurumaki, former assistant director of Anno, was chosen as the director of the series.
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- was released in theatres in the U.S. on 28 February, 2025.
