You and I are Polar Opposites anime adaptation to premiere in January 2026

The production staff and teaser visual have also been revealed. 

The upcoming anime adaptation for Koucha Agasawa’s mangaSeihantai na Kimi to Boku (You and I Are Polar Opposites) has updated its official website to reveal its production staff, teaser visual, and a promotional video. The anime is set to begin airing in January 2026.

The promotional video gives fans a glimpse into what to expect for this high school romantic comedy, and teases at the dynamic between the two main characters, Suzuki and Tani. 

The reveal coincides with the release of the final volume of the manga.

Seihantai staff and studio

The anime is set to be produced by the studio Lapin Track, with Shochiku Animation Division as production manager. Takakazu Nagamoto, who directed episodes for Shoushimin is slated as director, while the series composition will be handled by Teruko Utsumi, who will also act as animation producer. The character designs are made by Mako Miyako in collaboration with Naho Kozono. Other staff include:

  • Art director - Chieko Nakamura
  • Director of photography - Tomoyuki Shiokawa
  • Color design - Yuki Akimoto
  • 3D director - Yuuji Koshida
  • Editing - Masayuki Kurosawa

As of yet, no official cast has been revealed.

Seihantai plot and other details

You and I are Polar Opposites’ manga first started out as a one-shot published in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ back in 2021, but would receive a serialisation in the same website from 2022 to 2024, with an English translation simultaneously being released. The site officially describes the story as:

Suzuki, an energetic girl who can't help but follow the crowd, finds herself drawn to Tani, a quiet boy who can easily speak his mind. Enter: the serialization of a hit one-shot! A story for anyone who wants to enjoy love! This down-to-earth, relatable rom-com is ready to pull at your heartstrings!
