Two new cast members have joined the project.
The upcoming horror yuri anime This Monster Wants to Eat Me (Watashi o Tabetai, Hito de Nashi) announced an October 2025 release window. Although we don’t know the exact release date yet, fans are happy to get confirmation about the series’s premier. Two new cast members have joined the project. A new trailer has also been unveiled, which gave fans a glimpse of the dark romance story.
This Monster Wants to Eat Me cast and staff details
The official X (formerly Twitter) account of the series confirmed the two new voice actors. This includes:
- Yui Ishikawa as Shiori Oumi (Mikasa Ackerman in Attack on Titan, Violet in Violet Evergarden)
- Fairouz Ai as Miko Yashiro (Power in Chainsaw Man, Kikoru Shinomiya in Kaiju No. 8)
Previously, it was announced that the protagonist of the series, Hinako Yaotose, will be voiced by Reina Ueda (Miyo Saimori in My Happy Marriage and Cha Hae-In in Solo Leveling).
The dark, monster themed, yuri anime is being produced by Studio Lings with Yusuke Suzuki directing it, while the chief director is Naoyuki Kuzuya. Mitsutaka Hirota is handling the series composition Nozomi Ikuyama serves as the character designer and Keiji Inai handles the music composition. Other staff members include:

This Monster Wants to Eat Me story and other details
The anime is based on the popular yuri manga This Monster Wants to Eat Me by Sai Naekawa. It started serialisation in the Dengeki Maoh magazine by ASCII Media Works in 2020. Yen Press has licensed the English version of the manga. The story revolves around Hinako Yaotose, a high-school student who lost her family in an accident. Although she has a vague wish to end her life, she can’t seem to go through with it. Living in a seaside town, Hinako always has a feeling of drowning and the only person who treats her normally is her friend Miko.
One day, Hinako is attacked by a monster and almost killed. When she comes to, she sees that a beautiful girl named Shiori Oumi has saved her. But the girl reveals that she’s actually a mermaid and wants to eat Hinako when she matures into the perfect meal. Since Hinako’s flesh is incredibly enticing for other Yokai, Shiori enters her school and vows to protect Hinako till the day she eats her. This predator-pray dysfunctional relationship threatens to take over Hinako’s entire existence.
