Upcoming Yuri anime to look forward to

There are many Yuri titles coming out this year, and we are living for it!

26 April is Lesbian Visibility Day, and what better way to celebrate WLW than some good old-fashioned Yuri? For the last few years, there has been a rise in LGBTQ+ anime and manga series. Along with great BL, there have been some great Yuri aka Girls Love shows and movies as well. With how many GL anime have already been announced in 2025, we can confidently say that this is the year of Yuri, and we can’t be more hyped about it! We have collected some of the best upcoming GL anime that you need to watch!

Bad Girl (July 2025)

Based on Nikumaru’s four-panel manga series of the same name, Bad Girl is one of the Yuri romcom coming out in Summer 2025. The story focuses on a girl named Yū Yutani, who–at first glance–looks like a delinquent. With her sharp eye makeup, two-toned hair, and piercings, she’s a bad girl to boot. However, Yutani is actually a really good girl who’s only behaving like a bad girl to catch the eyes of the beautiful disciplinary committee chairman Atori Mizutori. The series also has many background characters and an adorable and funny central love story that you need to get a taste of.

There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Become Your Lover! Unless… (July 2025)

Another Summer 2025 romance, There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Become Your Lover! Unless…, is based on the light novel series written by Teren Mikami and illustrated by Eku Takeshima. The protagonist of the story is Reneko Amaori, a young girl who was a non-attending student throughout middle school. Reneko is determined to make the most of her high school life, but hanging out with popular girls sure can be exhausting for a loner! After one such interaction, Reneko ventures to the school’s rooftop to blow off some steam. She’s found by the school’s popular girl Mai Oduka who thinks she’s gonna end her life.

But once they talk, Reneko feels great about finally having a real friend at school. But when Mai confesses to her the next day, things take a shocking turn. Now Reneko is resolved to stay friends with Mai while the flirty popular girl is determined to break through her defenses. Much like the previous title, this anime also features some interesting characters who will play a vital role in this love story. This nervous x flirty romcom will be a treat for Yuri fans!

This Monster Wants to Eat Me (Oct 2025)

Taking a sharp turn from the wholesome and sweet, we have Fall 2025’s This Monster Wants to Eat Me, a horror GL with a pretty intense plot. Adapted from Sai Naekawa’s manga of the same name, the story centers around Hinako Yatose, who wants to die after losing her family in an accident. However, she can never go through with taking her own life and seems to be stuck in a limbo. Her only source of normalcy is her best friend Miko. One day, Hinako is attacked by a vicious Yokai and is saved by a stunning girl named Shiori Oumi.

But Shiori reveals that she’s also a dangerous mermaid. Apparently, Hinako’s flesh is especially enticing to Yokai, making her an easy target for them. But Shiori wants to eat Hinako’s flesh herself when her meat tastes the best. Until then, Shiori promises to protect the girl from every danger that comes in her way. A twisted love story between a human and a supernatural creature, This Monster Wants to Eat Me is one of the most-awaited GL titles of the year.

I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day (announced)

If you love supernatural and dystopian themes in your love story then I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day is perfect for you. Aono Nachi’s manga takes place in a world where children with special powers are made into supernatural weapons to be used in the war. In one such orphanage lives Sheena, who wants to stop the constant battles, especially after losing her roommate.

But one day, Sheena meets a blood-covered girl named Mimi, whose special ability is not dying. Her cheery demeanor despite her bloody situation shocks the protagonist. When Mimi becomes her new roommate, sparks start to fly between her and Sheena as death looms on their doorstep. Other than the main pair, there are also background relationships in the series which are depicted beautifully.

Kamiina Botan, Her Drunken Appearance is Like a Lily (announced)

Kamiina Botan, Her Drunken Appearance is Like a Lily probably has one of the most unique and beautiful concept trailers this year. The watercolour style really suits the languid storyline, although it’s undecided whether the anime will follow the same design. Based on Hey’s manga, the anime adaptation follows Botan Kamiina, a new college student who’s never drunk alcohol before. During their welcome party, she drinks highball for the first time and behaves differently than normal.

She is noticed by Ibuki, the dorm leader who also has a problem drinking publicly in front of other people. The two students become friends as Ibuki loves teasing Kamiina. The two characters go around to experience new types of alcohol as their friendship progresses towards something more. The series is tranquil and sweet in nature, perfect for a cosy evening.

The Moon on a Rainy Night (announced)

Although an anime adaptation of Kuzushiro’s manga has been announced, no other details have been disclosed. The sweet romance follows Saki Kindaichi, who runs into a girl while returning from piano lessons. The girl hands Saki her music sheets and leaves without uttering a word. The next day, Saki meets the girl again in her new high school. She learns that her name is Kanon Oikawa, and she is hard of hearing.

Kanon keeps her distance from her classmate due to her disability, but Saaki can’t help but be drawn to her over and over again. As the two begin a new friendship, Saki struggles with her romantic feelings towards Kanon. With the help of Saki, Kanon starts making new friends. If you loved A Sign of Affection, then this anime adaptation will also make a place inside your heart.

The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t A Guy At All (announced)

The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All is perhaps the most hyped GL anime adaptation that was announced this year. Popularly lauded as the ‘Green Yuri’ due to its use of a vibrant green colour in the background, this manga series is written and illustrated by Sumiko Arai. The story focuses on Aya Oosawa, a popular girl who sometimes feels out of place due to her taste in 90s rock music. One day, she visits a record store and falls in love with the mysterious boy working there.

But as Aya tells her friends about her crush, her seatmate Mitsuki Koga starts to panic. In reality, the store manager is none other than Aya’s quiet and shy classmate Mitsuki, who also deeply loves rock music. Their life collides in an array of colours and music and first love creeps its way into their relationship. The manga is extremely popular among international fans and they’re eagerly waiting for the anime adaptation.
