Blue Lock Chapter 300 sees Nagi bidding an emotional farewell to Reo

The two best friends’ dream of winning the World Cup together comes to a devastating end.

Nagi getting Locked Off from Blue Lock after being placed 24th was devastating for the fans. In the latest manga chapters, the sorrow only deepened when the genius said goodbye to his best friend Reo, who’s the reason he started playing football in the first place. The two friends’ tearful farewell brought a gloomy ending to the exciting Neo Egoist League. But for Isagi and the others, the only way to look is forward.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

Blue Lock Chapter 300 recap

Nagi apologises to Reo (Image: Kodansha/ Muneyuki Kaneshiro/ Yusuke Nomura).

Nagi calls Reo’s name and says that he has no regrets. Looking at Reo’s crying face, he continues that Ego was right. He was satisfied with winning against Isagi and playing football with Reo forever. Unfortunately, his dream was too small to survive in Blue Lock, where everyone is playing to become the best in the world. Maybe if he lost against Isagi and got angry, and maybe if Reo didn’t spoil him, the future would’ve been different. He says sorry to Reo for wanting to play with him instead of becoming the world’s best. He also apologises for not finding a new dream, for passing to Reo and not shooting on his own, and for failing to keep their promise.

Reo, still crying, touches Nagi’s shoulder and tells him not to apologise as he did nothing wrong. Even though Nagi didn’t like football at first, Reo made him play and try his best for his own dreams. But Nagi holds Reo’s hand and says that he was happy. Reo was pushy, selfish, and scared, Nagi got to see the “new him” when he was with him. He got fired up while playing and got frustrated when he lost. He also said many cruel things to Reo even though he knew how good winning felt. Nagi says that he kept thinking how lonely he would be without Reo. He was the one who showed Nagi the light, and he will treasure everything he experienced after meeting Reo for the rest of his life.

Unfortunately, it’s probably because of this that he lost. He treasured Reo’s company more than anything and lost sight of his dream and stopped being a genius. If the two of them just passed each other by, maybe they would have been stronger players, maybe even the best in the world. But their dream of being the world’s best together ends here. Nagi says goodbye to Reo and tells him to become the world champion without him. As Nagi leaves, Isagi calls him through the giant screen. When he looks back, Isagi tells him to not quit football. We see a small fire in Nagi’s eyes as he looks at Isagi and leaves. The rest of the players who got disqualified despair as the winners start celebrating.

Blue Lock Chapter 300 review

Nagi asks Reo to become the world's best on his own (Image: Kodansha/ Muneyuki Kaneshiro/ Yusuke Nomura).

The emotional rollercoaster of Reo and Nagi’s friendship finally came to a crashing end. Nagi is gone from Blue Lock while Reo moves on. It’s decided that Nagi will probably never be able to play in the Japanese National Team again. Which means their dream of winning the World Cup together has really ended. I don’t know how long Reo will last in the next part of Blue Lock without Nagi. However, I do know that Nagi won’t give up and he will find another dream to follow. Hopefully, this doesn’t mark the end of their friendship. But as the main goal of Muneyuki Kaneshiro’s manga is to establish the most egotistical forward, Nagi and Reo can never become the best while depending on each other.
