One Piece Chapter 1146 recap

The chapter begins with the remaining Straw Hats members Nami, Jinbe, Usopp, and Brook, asking Gunko who she is. When Colon wonders if she is one of the human intruders, she refutes by saying that they’re not humans but gods. Colon tells her to give back his friends–the other giant children who are still sleepwalking. Gunko says that they have a plan and for that to be realised, the children will be taken to the Holy Land of Mary Geoise. We then see Franky destroying one of the imaginary monsters, and Ripley taking him, Bonney, and Lilith away from the explosion. Jinbe asks if Gunko is a Celestial Dragon and Brook answers that she’s probably even higher ranked than them, making her a Holy Knight.
Gunko admits that she is indeed a Holy Knight, and shoots one of her arrows at Usopp. Nami tries to stop the attack with Zeus, but it doesn’t work as Gunko uses another arrow to turn him around. She says that the world as they know it was supposed to end, but some humans figured out the dangers and warned the world about it, namely Dr. Vegapunk.
Usopp then uses his slingshot weapon to blow Gunko’s upper body into smithereens, but she regenerates immediately. She unleashes another arrow and says that it’s impossible to stop it. As she attacks them, Gunko unveils that a massive war is coming. And which side the giants pledge their alliance to will decide the fate of the world. The Straw Hats realise that the Holy Knights have kidnapped the Elbaph children to make sure the giants do their bidding.

One of Gunko’s arrows captures Colon, and the rest of them try to save the giant child. However, Gunko’s power is truly unstoppable and she immediately overpowers them. Elsewhere on the island, St. Sommers attack the Walrus School and injure Principal Tusk and Ms. Ange. He plans to use the Transponder Snail in the school to send a message outside of Elbaph. St. Killingham asks him to wait as he’s almost finished with Saul, someone he thinks should’ve died in Ohara. When Saul falls onto the massive thorny vines he’s created, Killingham rejoices.
However, we see that despite being injured, Saul is alive. But he doesn’t want Chopper and Robin to come out although they feel immense pain seeing his condition. Killingham continues hurting Saul and says that it’s stupid for the giants to have schools and libraries. They should use their vicious, violent power to help the World Government. However, King Harald’s appearance years ago suddenly changed everything.
One Piece Chapter 1146 review

The chapter ending with a flashback means we might get to see more of King Harald in the next issue. Despite being from the original Giant bloodline, Harald was kind and turned the giants away from a life of violence. Of course, people like Gunko and Killingham won’t like that, as it stops them from using their immense power for themselves.
It was really sad to see the Straw Hats crew get wrecked by Gunko with their most powerful members away. Now that Colon has been kidnapped, the stakes are even higher for the crew. Unless Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji return from the Underworld, the people on Elbaph are going to be in grave danger. Especially the kids, who are set to become pawns in a war they have no part in.
