Hell Teacher Nube releases special one-shot manga ahead of new sequel

The sequel series for Hell Teacher Nube will begin publication in May 2025.

The Hell Teacher Nube aka Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube manga series is extremely popular. Having begun in 1993, the original series came to an end in 1999. However, multiple sequel series have been released since then, including an anime adaptation. A brand new manga titled Jigoku Sensei Nube Kai is set to begin serialisation this May. Ahead of that, a special one-shot was just released.

Hell Teacher Nube one-shot manga sees Nube saving his students once again

The new one-shot manga was published on 16 April, 2025, in Shueisha’s Saikyō Jump magazine. This short feature is set before the upcoming sequel manga series Jigoku Sensei Nube Kai, and is available to read for free on the website until 3 June, 2025. The official X (formerly Twitter) account of Saikyō Jump has also released the Japanese version of the one-shot. Moreover, The Jigoku Sensei Nube Kai series will begin serialisation on Saikyō Jump in the June issue of the magazine, which is coming out on 2 May, 2025.

The original manga series titled, Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube written by Shō Makura and illustrated by Takeshi Okano came out in 1993 and ended in 1999. A spin-off series titled  Reibaishi Izuna: The Spiritual Medium, centering around the itako-girl Izuna Hazuki, came out in 2007 and ran till 2016. A one shot sequel to the original series titled Jigoku Sensei Nūbē: Ōmagatoki came out in 2014. Another manga sequel titled Jigoku Sensei Nūbē Neo began publishing in 2014 and finished in 2018. Jigoku Sensei Nūbē S, which is the latest sequel, was serialised from 2018 to 2021. The first anime adaptation of the series came out in 1996. A brand new anime adaptation by Studio Kai will be released in July 2025.

The story of Hell Teacher Nube focuses on the homeroom teacher Domori Elementary’s class 5-3. Although his name is Meisuke Nueno, he’s better known as Nube. He has a secret: Nube is actually a very talented exorcist protecting the town and the children from supernatural attacks. He does this by borrowing strength from his left hand where a powerful demon is sealed. Whenever his students are targeted, Nube jumps into action to protect them. The upcoming manga Jigoku Sensei Nube Kai will follow Nube crossing space and time to save his students, all of whom have been taken into a world of ghost stories.
