The author revealed that the manga is nearing its climax.
One of Spring 2025’s most unique anime releases is Kowloon Generic Romance, based on Jun Mayuzuki’s sci-fi romance manga of the same name. Other than the anime, the series also received a live-action movie adaptation. However, just as two episodes of the show have aired, the author confirmed that his manga is already in its final arc and will be ending soon.
Kowloon Generic Romance is nearing its grand finale
A Japanese website Nikkei Cross Trend posted a restructured interview with the manga author Jun Mayuzuki. The original article was published in the April issue of the magazine, which was shipped on 4 March. In the interview, Mayuzuki confirmed that Kowloon Generic Romance is already in its final arc. This means the manga will probably release its climax soon. However, the author didn’t confirm when the series might end. He commented that the characters are now revealing their true selves and intentions, and if people read it now, they’ll see the manga in a different light.
Jun Mayuzuki’s Kowloon Generic Romance manga began publishing in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump in November 2019. The anime adaptation began on 5 April, 2025. A live-action movie adaptation is also set to come out in August 2025. The story of the series takes place in the walled city of Kowloon, which is the most densely populated place on Earth. Realtor Reiko Kujirai wants to experience new things while her co-worker and senior Hajime Kudou wants things to remain the same. When Reiko falls in love with Hajime, she unearths a past that she has no recollection of. This supernatural sci-fi series has been lauded by fans across the world. Mayuzuki’s other manga After the Rain has also received a lot of praise and has a 12-episode anime adaptation.
