Roboco is all set to enter the alternate multiverses in the upcoming movie. The Me & Roboco film, which is set to be released in Japan on April 18, 2025, just revealed new cast members who will voice the alternate universe versions of our beloved Roboco. Fans will be glad to know that not only does it include a One Piece Roboco and a Romcom Roboco, but also a muscled Roboco from the world of the classic '80s sci-fi action manga Fist of the North Star.
A promotional video featuring the Fist of the North Star Roboco has also been released on the official X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube accounts of the anime.
The new cast members who have joined the movie are:
- Mayumi Tanaka (Luffy in One Piece) will be voicing Roboco from the battle worldline universe themed after One Piece.
- Shigeru Chiba (narrator in The Fist of the North Star) will of course be lending his voice to Roboco from an alternate sci-fi dystopian universe created in the image of the classic manga and anime.
- Masako Nozawa (Son Goku in the Dragon Ball franchise) will be the voice of Roboco from a Showa-era gag manga.
- Sumire Uesaka (Alya from Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian) will be lending her voice to a clumsy, ecchi Roboco from the world of rom-com manga.
- Shun Matsuo will continue to voice the original Roboco from the anime.
Alongside the new cast members, some illustrations of the new Robocos were also released on the social media accounts of the anime. These hilarious yet perfectly illustrated characters have created a lot of buzz amongst anime fans. People are excited to see what this bizarre comedy anime brings next. Produced by Gallop, the movie is being directed by Akitarō Daichi, known for his work in Fruits Basket and Kodocha. Although the film was supposed to be released in 2024, it was rescheduled to April 18, 2025, as some improvements needed to be made to the project.
Based on the 2020 manga series by Shuhei Miyazaki, the Me & Roboco anime aired in 2022. The story takes place in a futuristic world where everyone owns a maid robot.
