An anime adaptation of shonen manga Witch Watch will be hitting the screens soon. This was officially announced on Friday (24 January), on social media and through anime streaming service giant Crunchyroll’s official page.

The series will be made available on Crunchyroll and Netflix in April 2025. Additionally, advanced screening in theaters featuring the first three episodes will begin in mid-March in North America, Europe and Asia from GKIDS, ADN, Tropics and Aniplus, respectively.

"WITCH WATCH is an exciting animated show based on a great original story and the hard work of its production team," Producer Hiroyuki Aoi of Mainichi Broadcasting System, Inc. said in a press release. "Nico's fun and amazing magic will definitely charm you and be memorable. We hope you'll enjoy laughing a lot in the theatre with its funny surprises," Hiroyuki added.

Bibury Animation Studios, renowned for their work on The 100 Girlfriends Who Really Love You and The Quintessential Quintuplets Season 2, is leading the adaptation of the manga. The project is directed by Hiroshi Ikehata, with Masao Kawase serving as the assistant director. Meanwhile, character designs will be handled by Haruko Iizuka (Horimiya), with music composed by Yukari Hashimoto (A Sign of Affection).

WITCH WATCH is based on the manga of the same name by Kenta Shinohara, which began serialisation in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2021. The anime adaptation will follow the story of Morihito Otogi, a high schooler from a family of ogre familiars who leads a calm and ordinary life—until his childhood friend Nico, a witch-in-training, moves in with him. Nico chooses Morihito to be her familiar and is thrilled to rekindle their friendship, though her feelings run deeper.

Morihito, however, must take on the serious task of protecting Nico from a looming calamity. Together, they navigate a chaotic mix of magical mishaps, supernatural threats, and the awkwardness of living under one roof.
