The upcoming anime adaptation of the literary classic ‘Anne of Green Gables’ has announced an official cast and staff
The upcoming animated series ‘Anne Shirley’ has revealed the official cast and staff for the show in a press release to PR Times.
Based on the 1908 novel by Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery ‘Anne of Green Gables’, ‘Anne Shirley’ recounts the adventures of an 11-year old orphan girl named Anne Shirley. Sent to two middle-aged siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert by mistake, Anne is set to assist the Cuthberts in their farm, all while navigating her way through life alongside her peers and neighbours in the fictional town of Avonlea in Prince Edward Island, Canada.
The official voice cast are as follows:
- Anne Shirley - Honoka Inoue (Karen Kisaragi in Danganropa 3, Inki in ‘Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess)
- Marilla Cuthbert - Aya Nakamura (Tadashi’s mother in Jujutsu Kaisen, Pepper Potts in The Invincible Iron Man)
- Matthew Cuthbert - Yasunori Matsumoto (Wataru Akiyama in MF Ghost, Eren Kruger in Attack on Titan)
- Gilbert Blythe - Miyase Naoya (Jin Himura in Go, Go Loser Ranger!, Lambert Aurousseau in I’m in Love with the Villainess)
- Diana Burley - Yume Miyamoto (Tokiko in Shoshimin: How to Become Ordinary, Yui Mitsuya in I Have a Crush at Work)
Hiroshi Kawamata (Nepos Napos, Otona Joshi no Anime Time) is the director of the series, while character designs were made by Kenichi Tsuchiya (Suzume, Weathering With You). Remaining staff have not been revealed.
The series is produced by Answer Studio, and will begin broadcasting on NHK Education TV in April 2025, an official date is yet to be announced. The show is set to release 24 episodes.
