After a Webtoon and anime adaptation, the fantasy novel series is now set for a live-action project.
The live-action adaptation of the popular web novel turned webcomic turned anime series Solo Leveling has been in the talks for some time now. People didn’t know how to feel since live-action anime projects aren’t always great (One Piece being the exception). However, Kakao Entertainment, the publication company behind both the novel and the webcomic, confirmed that a live-action drama based on Chugong’s novel is already in the planning stage in an official announcement on their website.
Solo Leveling began publishing on the digital platform KakaoPage in 2016. Later, the novel got a webcomic adaptation that brought it international fame across countries. In 2024, the first season of Solo Leveling’s anime adaptation aired and almost broke the internet. The second season of the show is currently airing, and equally dominating social media platforms. Fans think that if done well, the Solo Leveling live-action series can stand toe-to-toe with the previous adaptations. Unfortunately, no other details are available since the project is currently only in the planning stage.

The story of Solo Leveling takes place on an alternate Earth where many portals or dungeons have opened up. These magical dungeons have monsters and treasures inside. After the birth of these portals, many humans awakened special abilities to fight the monsters inside. One such awakened human aka hunter is Sung Jinwoo, an E-rank hunter and pretty much the weakest of the bunch. After a close brush with death in one of the dungeons, Sung Jinwoo awakens the power to level up his physical and supernatural powers with the help of a ‘system’ window. In his journey to become stronger, Jinwoo finds out that the sudden supernatural change in the world is not abrupt at all.
