The one-eyed ghoul is ready to cause carnage.
The popular online survival horror video game Dead by Daylight has revealed that a new killer is set to wreak havoc for survivors, and it’s the one-eyed ghoul king himself: Ken Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul!
The announcement was revealed on Dead by Daylight’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, complete with an amazing illustration done in the game’s signature style.
Ken Kaneki features as new killer in Dead by Daylight
The next patch update for Dead by Daylight, 8.6.0, is set to terrorise players once again on 2 April, with Ken Kaneki featured as the game’s latest addition to its roster of killers.
Ken Kaneki is the main protagonist of Sui Ishida’s dark fantasy manga, Tokyo Ghoul, which also received an anime adaptation back in 2014. The anime has three seasons and concluded in 2018, while the manga serialised in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump from 2011 to 2014.
MyAnimeList describes the plot of the first season as:
A sinister threat is invading Tokyo: flesh-eating "ghouls" who appear identical to humans and blend into their population. Reserved college student Ken Kaneki buries his nose in books and avoids the news of the growing crisis. However, the appearance of an attractive woman named Rize Kamishiro shatters his solitude when she forwardly asks him on a date.
While walking Rize home, Kaneki discovers she isn't as kind as she first appeared, and she has led him on with sinister intent. After a tragic struggle, he later awakens in a hospital to learn his life was saved by transplanting the now deceased Rize's organs into his own body.
Kaneki's body begins to change in horrifying ways, and he transforms into a human-ghoul hybrid. As he embarks on his new dreadful journey, Kaneki clings to his humanity in the evolving bloody conflict between society's new monsters and the government agents who hunt them.
As a killer in Dead by Daylight, Kaneki will have a multitude of abilities for players to look out for. Called “The Ghoul”, Kaneki will be able to summon his kagune for a special ability called ‘Kagune Leap’, which will be able to pull Kaneki forward and perform a second leap that will grab-attack any survivor, inflicting Deep Wounds and leaving a Kagune Mark.
Doing a grab-attack will trigger Kaneki’s special ability: Enraged Mode, where he will be able to do three consecutive Kagune Leaps if aimed at a survivor. If a survivor is afflicted with a Kagune Mark, Kaneki will stay in this state until a survivor is Mended or downed.
