No/Name was the first ever manga done by a non-Japanese team published by Shueisha.
In an announcement on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Rafal Jaki revealed that the manga he collaborated on with Machine Gamu, titled No/Name, has been cancelled by publisher Shuisha and will officially end with chapter 14. The post included a thank you illustration featuring No/Name’s cast of characters.
Jaki also revealed in the replies to his announcement that the decision stemmed from the “harsh reality of JUMP+” being that titles that don’t become hits are cancelled. The first arc of the manga was originally planned to have around 360 pages.
Physical copies of No/Name’s volume two are still set to be published in Japan, while agreements are being signed for physical editions for local publications, although Jaki also affirmed that he cannot provide any further information until local publishers have released an announcement. An English version of the manga has yet to find a publisher.
Replying to a question of whether or not he was allowed to continue the story elsewhere, Jaki affirmed that at a certain point, his contract with Shueisha will expire and he will be free to do what he wants.
No/Name began its serialisation under Shueisha in July 2024 as the first manga series created by a non-Japanese overseas team of creators. The manga started as part of the Manga Plus Creators project, and received the Gold Award in the September 2023 Monthly Awards. According to the official description of the story in the MangaPlus website, the story is as follows:
“In a world where peoples' names grant them superhuman powers... Two agents from the Nordic Naming Bureau(NNB), an agency specialized in investigating crimes committed by "Namers", handle the case of a man and his missing wife and son. Things take a turn, however, when the duo come face to face with the man, who wishes to give his son the same name as himself…”
Besides working on No/Name, Rafal Jaki is known as the writer and producer for the TV mini series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, a prequel anime series to the hit video game Cyberpunk 2077. No/Name’s illustrator, Machine Gamu, is an anonymous digital artist and manga illustrator.
