The second round of nominees for the 2025 Manga Taisho Award have been announced.
There are many prestigious anime and manga awards that take place every year, honouring the best of the best. One of them is the Manga Taisho Award, which crowns the best manga release from the previous calendar year. For 18 years, this award has been celebrating new authors whose manga have eight or fewer volumes.
This year, fans are eager to see which series wins the award as many new manga started serializing in 2025. Although a total of 238 titles were selected for the award at first, a panel of 97 judges narrowed it down to 10 for the second round of nominations.
The official Manga Taisho website revealed the names of the 10 nominees on January 21, 2025. As mentioned earlier, all of them have less than 8 tankōbon volumes, though some of them might have started publishing before 2024. The nominees for the 2025 Manga Taisho Awards are:
- Alice, Dokomademo written by Kiko Urino (Big Comic Spirits)
- Onna no Sono no Hoshi by Yama Wayama (Shodensha)
- COSMOS by Ryuhei Tamura (Shogakukan)
- Kono Yo wa Tatakau Kachi ga Aru by Hatsumi Kodama (Big Comic Spirits)
- Re-Living My Life with a Boyfriend Who Doesn't Remember Me by Eiko Mutsuhana, Gin Shirakawa, Yugiri Aika (Seven Seas Entertainment)
- Magus of the Library by Mitsu Izumi (Kodansha)
- Dokakui Daisuki! Mochizuki-san by Kamome Maruyono (Hakusensha)
- Dokudami no Hanasaku Koro by Shiho Kido (Kodansha)
- Girl meets Rock! by Kuwahali, Tetsuo Ideuchi (Shueisha)
- Robou no Fujii by Kurao Nabe (Big Comic Spirits)
The award ceremony will be held on March 27, 2025. Fans are eager to know which manga out of these top 10 selections ultimately becomes the winner. Last year, Inuhiko Doronoda’s manga Spacewalking with You won the 17th Manga Taisho Award.
