Getting children involved in a war is some of the worst things you can do. But as we’ve seen before, the World Government isn’t afraid of descending into wicked corruption to ensure their victory and the complete erasure of their enemies. In the latest chapter of the One Piece manga, we see that this time, they plan to kidnap the children of Elbaph to make sure the Giants do their bidding in the upcoming war. And if not, the Holy Knights plan to kill the innocent kids.
Warning: Spoilers Ahead!
One Piece Chapter 1147 recap

The issue begins with a flashback where Saul tells Robin and Chopper to stay hidden. This is because the Holy Knights are immortal and they need to wait for their chance to save the children. In the present, Sommers injures Saul and says that it seems there were two survivors from Ohara, meaning the Navy did a sloppy job. He asks Gunko if she plans to take the Straw Hats crew with them, but Killingham says they can’t as it’ll anger Luffy. Nami, Jinbei, Brook, and Usopp lament about their situation. Gunko suddenly points a sharp weapon at Brook, making him scream. She kicks his chin and says she wants him to write songs for her for the rest of his life and he’ll be her slave. Brook refuses, saying he has been dedicated to Luffy ever since he saved him, and nothing will change that. This angers Gunko, who throws him away with an attack.
Sommers begins an announcement for all of Elbaph residents with the Transmitter Snail. He introduces himself as the Holy Knight Sommers from Mary Geoise. The giants start to panic when he says that they’ve taken 10 Elbaph children as hostages. He also reveals that he has reduced Saul to a bloody mess. Killingham then asks Ange to tell the name of the 10 kids.
We see that the children are awake now, but can’t turn back as Gunko has laid down her arrows for them to follow. But the kids are scared of all the monsters around them. Elsewhere, the Giant Pirates’ ship is destroyed by the new monsters shaped like the children’s mothers. This is a result of some kids saying they’re most afraid of their mothers. When Ripley notices the ship falling apart, she quickly reaches the crash site with Franky, Bonney, and Lilith.

Sommers says that their goal is to make the Giants their slaves in the upcoming battle. He then announces the names of the children, which reduces their parents and grandparents to tears. However, after learning that Collum has also been kidnapped while trying to save them, Scopper Gaban tells Ripley that their kid is a hero.
We see that they plan to take the children out of Elbaph through the Rainbow Bridge. He tells Elbaph to burn down the school and library as they’re useless for warriors. If they don’t, the Holy Knights will kill the children one by one. He then asks Jarul to make a decision. Ange speaks up, saying the school is a symbol of the peace which prevails in the country, while the library stores ancient history. Hearing this, both Gaban and Robin are fired up. Although their companions try to stop them, the two say that they can’t let this happen.
One Piece Chapter 1147 review

A very well formulated chapter which not only gave us an idea about what the enemies want to do, but also where they plan to take the children. In the next issue, we will probably see both Robin and Gaban (Mr. Ya), intercept the children’s path before they can reach the shore. Of course, the Holy Knights will try to stop them, which means we will get a great action sequence soon. I’m excited to see Captain Gol D. Roger’s left-hand man Scopper Gaban’s fighting expertise and what he does to save his son. But it has been some time since Robin has been in full action. Of course, she feels deeply for Elbaph not only because Saul is here, but also because she lost her country to the World Government’s unending greed years ago. I can’t wait for her to take on the seemingly invincible Gunko.
