Detectives These Days Are Crazy! Anime unveils July 2025 release window

Liden Films is producing the anime adaptation.

Masakuni Igarashi’s popular comedy detective manga series Detectives These Days Are Crazy! (Mattaku Saikin no Tantei Tokitara!) is getting an anime adaptation. The official website and X (formerly Twitter) account of the series recently revealed that the show will air in July 2025. 

Although a definitive release date is yet to be confirmed, the new trailer for the show can give fans an idea about what to expect from it. The main and additional cast, as well as the production team working on the series have also been revealed.

Detectives These Days Are Crazy! cast and staff details

The two main characters of the anime and their VAs are:

  • Keiichirō Nagumo voiced by Junichi Suwabe (Ryomen Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen, Shota Aizawa/Eraserhead in My Hero Academia)
  • Mashiro Nakanishi voiced by Kana Hanazawa (Akane Tsunemori in Psycho Pass, Mitsuri Kanroji in Demon Slayer)

Other characters and cast members include:

  • Cerberus voiced by Chado Horii (Adam Dudley in Baki Hanma and Kengan Ashura, Mill in The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic)
  • Tarō Nezu voiced by Kengo Kawanishi (Muichiro Tokito in Demon Slayer, Soshiro Hoshina in Kaiju No. 8)
  • Yū Asunaro voiced by Tomohiro Yamaguchi (Mini Piccolo in Dragon Ball Daima, Ururun in PuniRunes)
  • Hana Kazamaki voiced by Aya Hirano (Lucy Heartfilia in Fairy Tail, IImai Nobume in Gintama)
  • Azuha Hoshino voiced by Fairouz Ai (Power in Chainsaw Man, Kikoru Shinomiya in Kaiju No. 8)

Liden Films is producing the anime while Rion Kujo (The Legendary Hero is Dead, Samurai Harem) is the director. Rintarō Ikeda (The Seven Deadly Sins, Insomniacs After School) is in charge of the scriptwriting with Tomoki Kikuya (Bocchi the Rock!, Nisekoi) composing the music. Isoroku Koga (Goblin Slayer) is the character designer and chief animation director.

Masakuni Igarashi’s original manga series started publishing  ASCII Media Works’ magazine Dengeki Maoh in 2016. The story follows Keiichiro Nagumo, a once-brilliant teenage detective who could solve any case. Now 35, out of his prime, Nagumo runs a rundown detective agency. He has no cases to solve and is almost bankrupt. But suddenly, a high-school girl named Mashiro shows up to his office and demands she let her work with him. With her help, Nagumo starts to get back on his feet as more cases start to come in.
