Honey Lemon Soda will leave you craving a refreshing and youthful love story of your own.
If you’re looking to add a shoujo series to your Winter 2025 watchlist, make sure it’s Honey Lemon Soda! Based on the popular manga by Mayu Murata, this sweet and relatable slice-of-life high school romance has more to offer than the fluffy, heart throbbing moments between its two lead characters. It’s also a beautiful story about a girl overcoming her self-doubt and shyness.
Uka Ishimori, who will be voiced by Kana Ichinose, struggles with connecting with her fellow peers due to her shyness and perceived emotionless demeanor, earning her the nickname “Stone” during her middle school years. However, a chance encounter with Kai Miura, voiced by Shoga Yano, whose bright yellow hair and personality reminds Uka of honey lemon soda, inspires her to break out of her shell and be more confident.
As the two get to know each other more, Uka will build all sorts of friendships thanks to Kai, experiencing the highs and lows of youth in the process. Beyond Kai’s companionship, a romance is also brewing between the two that will definitely make your heart skip a beat!
Honey Lemon Soda is set to premiere on January 9, 2025, and will be available for viewing online on Crunchyroll. Additional cast members include Rie Takahashi as Serina Kanno, Miyari Nemoto as Ayumi Endo, Shun’ichi Toki as Tomoya Takamine, and Taku Yashiro as Satoru Seto.
The anime is produced by TMS Entertainment and animated by JCStaff, and is directed by Hiroshi Nishikiori (Delico’s Nursery, A Certain Magical Index), with Akiko Waba (Sacrificial Princess & the King of Beasts, Snow White with the Red Hair) writing the script. The opening theme song is entitled “Magic Hour" while the ending theme song is “Wonderful World,” both of which are performed by &Team.
