We have some great news for classic romantic manga and anime fans. The creator of the manga Kaichō wa Meido-Sama!, popularly known as Maid Sama, is returning with a brand new work. In the January 2025 issue of Hakusensha’s LaLaDX magazine, it was announced that the mangaka Hiro Fujiwara will start a new manga series titled Neko ni Wagamama (Be Selfish to a Cat).
The series has already debuted in Japan in the March issue of the LaLaDX shojo magazine, which came out on February 5, 2025. Not only that, but it also features a brand new chapter of the Maid Sama! manga. It was announced that the new Maid Sama! chapter is a short and sweet story between Misaki and Takumi before the two protagonists start dating. The Maid Sama manga also appears on the front cover of the issue, while the Neko ni Wagamama manga has a colour spread. You can see the latest cover spread on Hakusensha's official website. The LaLaDx official X (formerly Twitter) account has also posted the new manga’s colour spread.
The story of Neko ni Wagamama revolves around a girl named Rin who adores cats but can’t have them due to her severe allergy. One day, she comes across an injured cat in a shrine and is delighted to realise she doesn’t have an allergic reaction to it. Rin takes the cat home and tends to it. But when she wakes up in the morning, she discovers that the unassuming animal has transformed into her cold and distant classmate Tachibana. Maid Sama! Fans are excited about the new manga on the 20th anniversary of the popular series. An anime series based on the manga produced by J.C. Staff came out in 2010 and had a total of 26 episodes.
