12 years since the Date A Live anime premiered, a new project is now in the works.
Fans of the anime Date A Live were given a big surprise on Thursday, 10 April, when the official X (formerly Twitter) account for the series announced a new anime project in the works.
Although no further information was revealed save for a teaser visual, eagle-eyed fans have noticed details in the poster that may hint at what the production committee has in store.
Date A Live Season 6? Fans are hopeful.
When the poster is subjected to lighting edits, a cherry blossom tree could be seen in the background. This little hint has given fans hope that there might be a Season 6 in the future, as the tree is similar to the one featured in artwork for the final volume of the light novel series the anime is based on.
Season 5 for the anime, which aired from April to June 2024, covered volumes 17 to 19 of the light novel series, so it stands to reason that if the teased project is a Season 6, material from volumes 20 to 22, which are known as the Tohka World Arc, will be used.
In addition, the crystal featured prominently in the poster is believed to be Mio’s Sephira Crystal, which further gives fans the assurance that the Tohka World Arc will be adapted. Although these are just speculations from dedicated fans, it will be great to see just how the anime will adapt the ending of the light novel series.
Date A Live is a romantic-comedy science fantasy based on a series of light novels written by Koshi Tachibana and illustrated by Tsunako, with a total of 22 volumes written from 2013 to 2020. The franchise has received five manga adaptations, various spin-off light novels and movies, and a total of 5 anime seasons.

A little meet-cute in a decimated city April 10. The first day of school. Shido Itsuka is rudely awoken by his personal alarm clock-his little sister. It’s shaping up to be another typical day…well, as typical as it gets on a planet plagued by massive spatial quakes. Little does Shido know, however, his life is about to take a sudden turn when he encounters the source of this destructive phenomenon-a girl his age, apparently known as a Spirit.
