A Japanese Vtuber superfan saved over $2,000 thanks to her favourite Oshi’s livestreams.
A Japanese Vtuber superfan going by @nagerareta_nagi on X (formerly Twitter) revealed that, thanks to their resolution of putting away money every time their Oshi streamed, they have accumulated over 332,000 yen ($2,000 converted) in savings.
The resolution started in February 2024 for Nagerareta Nagi, where they decided to save 1,000 yen (around $6) every time their Oshi, Ibrahim – or Ibu-chan – livestreamed, and would end on the 31st of December, 2024.
Ibrahim is a Vtuber affiliated with NIJISANJI, and is part of the trio ‘Meifu’ alongside Furen E Lustario and Melissa Kinrenka. He debuted on February 1, 2020, and has generated a dedicated following of 758 thousand subscribers on his official YouTube account.
Meanwhile the term “Oshi” is a Japanese slang word used to describe certain personas or fictional characters who receive a fan’s full love and support, essentially it’s an idol you’re a massive fan of.
Besides saving 1,000 yen every time Ibrahim streamed, Nagerareta Nagi also revealed that they added further rules along the way, stating that although it was a difficult journey, the sense of accomplishment after completing their goal was a great feeling to have.
Although their 2024 resolution has come to an end, 2025 is going to be another year of saving for Nagerareta Nagi, in an additional tweet, they revealed their 2025 saving goals:
In a machine translation, the tweet states that for 2025, the amount they will save depends on their Oshi’s activities: 1,000 yen ($6) for a livestream, 1,000 yen for posts with images and videos, 5,000 yen ($31) for a short video, 10,000 yen ($63) for winning a tournament, 5,000 yen for being a runner up, and 10,000 yen for every celebration, which will include new costumes, and birthdays.
