The anime's final release date has not yet been revealed, although it's set to be released within 2025.
If you survived an apocalypse with a friend, how would you spend your days? Would you travel across the country, taking in the remnants of a world once bustling with life?
Touring After the Apocalypse (otherwise known as Shūmatsu Touring), an anime rendition of Sake Saitō's manga released by Aniplex, operates on this idea. The announcement came on Monday (21 February) on Aniplex's social media pages. Studio Nexus is taking charge of the animation, and the release date is scheduled for 2025. Alongside the announcement, Aniplex released a short teaser on its social media accounts.
Aniplex also previously teased the anime on 21 February by sharing a mysterious visual of an empty Shibuya crossing with two girls and a motorbike, facing opposite directions. Touring After the Apocalypse is about two girls who travel through Japan’s deserted ruins—but they won’t let the fall of civilisation stop them from sightseeing.
In the teaser, two girls jumpstart an odd-looking bike with plenty of buttons. After beginning their ride, quick shots of different Japanese landmarks are seen, which were all dilapidated or overrun by greenery. We see the two girls relaxing in an onsen, encountering wildlife and eating delicious-looking food, all by themselves. The question is: are they the only humans left?
Konomi Inagaki (Idora in The Red Ranger Becomes an Adventurer in Another World) and Miyu Tomita (Kiui in Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night) star as Yoko and Airi, respectively. To mark the announcement, the two took part in a promotional photoshoot and will also appear at the Aniplex booth at AnimeJapan 2025 for a stage event.
Touring After the Apocalypse is written and illustrated by Sakae Saitō (Super Cub Rei spin-off), and has been serialized in Dengeki Maoh magazine since September 2020, with six collected volumes released so far. Yen Press publishes the official English version.
The anime's final release date has not been revealed yet, but it will be released sometime in 2025.
