On 19 February, 2025, the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Sentenced to Be a Hero anime announced new details for the show. Previously, the two main cast members of the series were revealed along with a short teaser. This time, it was announced that three more cast members are joining the anime. Unfortunately, no details about the director or other staff members of the projects have been unveiled yet. The anime is being produced by Studio Kai.

The new cast members of the series are:

  • Shizuka Ishigami (Ryota in That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime and Laufen in Frieren) as Patausche Kivia

This anime is based on Rocket Shokai’s light novel series Sentenced to Be a Hero: The Prison Records of Penal Hero Unit 9004. It takes place in a world where criminals are sentenced to be heroes and fight the demon army. Even if they die, they are resurrected and forced into battle again. This hellish loop is the reality for protagonist Xylo, who has been sentenced for killing a goddess. But when another goddess suddenly wants to make a deal with him, Xylo’s life changes forever.
