The news was announced in the third volume of the manga.

The third volume of Sumiko Arai’s popular yuri manga The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All came out in Japan and with it, the news everyone has been waiting for was also confirmed. According to the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the mangaka, the series is all set to be made into an anime. Sumiko Arai also thanked everyone who supported her for so long and promised to work her best so fans love the anime.

Unfortunately, no other details about the project have been revealed as of yet. On her X profile, Sumiko Arai announced that the English version of the second volume of the manga is available worldwide right now. Yen Press has licensed the manga in English, and fans can buy the latest volume from its website and other platforms. Pre-orders for the English version of Volume 3 has also begun. Hopefully, once production begins, we will receive more updates about the anime’s cast, staff, and other details soon.

The story of The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All revolves around high-school student Aya Oosawa, a popular girl. However, her love of rock music doesn’t line up with her classmates’ music tastes. One day, Aya finds a record store and falls for a mysterious guy at the counter. Her quiet and introverted classmate Mitsuki overhears Aya gushing to her friends about it, and finds herself in quite a pickle. Mitsuki is actually the boy whom Aya has a crush on, but he isn’t a boy at all! The two classmates start an unlikely friendship while Mitsuki tries to hide her identity. However, things aren’t as simple when matters of the heart are involved.
