The mangaka credits the anime's successful run for the surging interest in Blue Box’s manga.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Blue Box’s official PR account has revealed that a huge reprint is in the works for the manga series, noting that more than 7 million copies are currently in circulation.
The reprints are set to begin on February 7, 2025, and will include all volumes of the series beginning from volume 1 to volume 18. Blue Box’s mangaka, Kouji Miura, took the opportunity to thank fans for their support, citing the surge in popularity as an effect of Blue Box’s currently airing anime series.
Blue Box’s manga was first serialised in Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump in April 2021, and is still ongoing. Its first print volume was released in November 2022. The anime television series was announced in November 2023, with TMS entertainment as producer, and Telecom Animation Film as animator. The series is directed by Yuichiro Yano, with Yuko Kakihara handling the series composition, and Miho Tanino as character designer. The first episode premiered on October 3, 2024. The anime is currently in its 2nd cour.
The story follows highschooler Taiki Inomata and his burgeoning relationship with upperclassman Chinatsu Kano, as they navigate their passion for their sports and their growing feelings for each other.
