Blue Box announces Season 2 now in production

Taiki, Hina, and Chinatsu’s story isn’t over yet.

Sports romance anime Blue Box has confirmed that a second season is now in production on Friday, 28 March, during the airing of the first season's 25th and final episode. The first season was split into two cours, with the first half airing back in Fall 2024.

The announcement, which was also revealed through Blue Box’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, included a Season 2 teaser promotional video and celebratory artwork commemorating the news.

Blue Box Season 2 is set to continue Taiki and Chinatsu’s budding romance

Blue Box follows high school badminton athlete Taiki Inomata, who has a crush on his upperclassman Chinatsu Kano, who is the basketball team’s ace player. They get to know each other through their early morning practice sessions, with Taiki finding Chinatsu’s dedication inspirational. However, certain circumstances change Taiki and Chinatsu’s dynamic, as Taiki gets the surprise of his life when he finds out that Chinatsu’s living with him and his family in the foreseeable future!

Blue Box is based on the manga by Kouji Miura, and has been serialised in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump since April 2021. The manga is still ongoing and has currently released 19 tankobon volumes as of March 2025.

The anime is produced by TMS Entertainment and animated by Telecom Animation Film. Considering that Season 2 was immediately announced after the Season 1 finale, it’s safe to assume that the staff behind the show are reprising their roles for its next installment.

The cast behind Blue Box are:

  • Taiki Inomata: Shoya Chiba
  • Chinatsu Kano: Reina Ueda
  • Hina Chono: Akari Kito
  • Kyo Kasahara: Chiaki Kobayashi
  • Kengo Haryu: Yuma Uchida
