After the thrills of Oshi no Ko, Akasaka is going back to romance for the upcoming project.
The author of popular manga series such as Oshi no Ko and Kaguya-sama: Love is War, Aka Akasaka is coming back with a brand-new series. Set in a fantasy world, the manga will be a love story focusing on a prince and a princess. Although the series was announced a few weeks after the Oshi no Ko manga came to an end, not many details about it were revealed. Recently however, the name of the manga and its release date was announced.
According to reports, the manga is titled Maerchen Crown and will take place in a fantasy world. The first chapter of the series will debut on Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump issue 16/2025 on March 20, 2025. The manga series is being illustrated by Ajichika, a four person artist group known for their work on the Record of Ragnarok manga. Aoi Kujira is handling the series composition. The manga will likely be a fantasy love story, which is starkly different from the dark thriller themes of Oshi no Ko.
A famed manga author and illustrator, Aka Akasaka has written multiple manga series over the years. His most famous work is, of course, Oshi no Ko, which ended in 2024. However, many fans didn't love the ending and felt it was disappointing after so much build-up. Because of that, there’s a chance that some readers will avoid his upcoming manga series as well. Hopefully, Maerchen Crown will avoid these issues and deliver a wholesome love story like Kaguya-sama for the fans to enjoy.
You can watch the first two seasons of Oshi no Ko anime right now, with a third season coming out in 2026.
