The movie will premiere on 15 August, 2025.
A few weeks ago, STUDIO4°C announced that their original anime movie ChaO will be released on 15 August. The two main cast members and production staff were also revealed along with a new trailer. Recently, the official website and X (formerly Twitter) of the film revealed seven new cast members joining the project.
ChaO movie additional cast detail
The new voice actors joining the movie are:
- Shi, Stefan’s boss and the president of the shipbuilding company, voiced by Ryota Yamazato (member of comedy-duo The Nankai Candies)
- Maibei, a woman who befriends ChaO when she feels confused on land, voiced by Kavka Shishido (vocalist and drummer)
- Roberta, an inventor and Stefan’s friend, voiced by Yuichiro Umehara (Jo Togame in Wind Breaker, Takayuki Mima in Play It Cool, Guys)
- King Neptunus, ChaO’s father, voiced by Kenta Miyake (All Might in My Hero Academia, Shadow in Sk8 the Infinity)
- Juno, a reporter covering human-mermaid history, voiced by Shunsei Ota (member of J-Pop boyband OCTPATH)
- Juno’s Editor-in-Chief voiced by Anna Tsuchiya (singer and actress)
- Ambassador Omede, a parliament representative who says he wants to promote conversation between humans and mermaids, voiced by Cookie! (member of comedy duo Yasei Bakudan)
Previously it was revealed that Ōji Suzuka will voice the protagonist Stefan while Anna Yamada will voice the mermaid ChaO. The new trailer also highlights the additional voice cast, giving the audience a glimpse into the movie. ChaO has also been nominated at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2025 in the Feature Film Competition. The other Japanese movie to be selected is The Last Blossom. The movie’s unique animation and premise has already made it the talk of the anime world!
