Original anime movie The Last Blossom unveils Fall 2025 release window

The new trailer also highlights the main voice actors.

The upcoming anime film The Last Blossom (HOUSENKA) unveiled a new trailer. It was announced that the movie will be released theatrically in Japan in Fall 2025. Unfortunately, a definitive premiere date is yet to be determined. The official website and X (formerly Twitter) account of the project also revealed the cast and staff for the movie, as well as a beautiful key illustration.

The Last Blossom cast and staff details

The main voice cast of the movie includes:

  • Akutsu (Past) voiced by Junki Tozuka
  • Akutsu (Present) voiced by Kaoru Kobayashi
  • Nana Nagata (Young) voiced by Hikari Mitsushima
  • Nana Nagata (Old) voiced by Yoshiko Miyazaki
  • Housenka voiced by Pierre Taki

The original anime series is created by the creators of ODDTAXI Baku Kinoshita and Kazuya Konomoto. CLAP Animation Studio (Pompo: The Cinéphile, The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes)  is producing the project, which is Kinoshita’s first full-length directorial debut. Konomoto is serving as the scriptwriter for the movie. The Japanese pop-rock band cero is providing the music. Pony Canyon revealed that the film has also been selected in the Feature Film Competition at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2025. The other Japanese movie from this year that has been selected is ChaO by STUDIO4°C

The story of this emotional drama movie focuses on Akutsu, an old inmate dying alone in a prison in 2023. Suddenly, a Housenka flower suddenly tells him what a rotten life he’s had. In Summer of 1986, Akutsu is living with Nana and her son Kensuke in a small and worn down apartment that has a beautiful garden filled with Housenka flowers. A lone flower growing in a prison tells the story of a dying Yakuza and his one-night comeback!
