One Piece Chapter 1145: Loki reveals his past as Jinbe saves the day!

Loki’s past unveils an intriguing connection to Rocks D. Xebec.

The latest chapter of Eiichiro Oda’s manga had a little bit of everything. We saw Zoro and Sanji bickering, Loki revealing some of his past to Luffy, and Jinbe saving the giant kids just in time. The ups and downs of emotion and excitement kept the readers on the edge of their seats. The cliffhanger which it ended on was also really well written.

One Piece Chapter 1145 recap

The issue features an illustration of the Straw Hats crew by Midori Matsuda. The chapter begins with Goldberg and his talking shield Nash going up against an animal that looks like a dinosaur. As soon as Goldberg stops its attack, Sanji punches it upward. Zoro then slices its long neck in two with his triple blades. Goldberg then says that it’s a Groggysaurus and they can eat its meat even though it’s massive. We learn that Nash knows Zeus and is surprised to learn that he is now Nami’s servant. Back at the castle, Loki reveals that it was two Holy Knights who attacked and injured him.

Hajrudin asks if he did something during his rampaging to anger the World Government. Loki denies it—saying if he had gotten far enough, he would be the king of the world by now. Suddenly, Goldberg, Zoro, and Sanji come back from their hunt with the Groggysaurus. When Zoro says he delivered the killing blow, Sanji teases that he looked like a graceful, soaring broccoli while doing it. Everyone starts cooking the meat and feeding it to Loki, who almost chokes on the food. Luffy accidentally spills hot soup on Loki but when he apologises, Gerd gives him a thumbs-up—showing she isn’t bothered at all. Sanji wonders what Loki did to make all the giants hate him so much as Zoro guesses that his promise to Luffy was a bluff.

Luffy asks Loki about Shanks, and the giant says that he understands looking up to a pirate in your childhood. He reveals that he also felt this way about someone. In a flashback, we see little Loki asking a silhouette to take him with him. The pirate refuses, and Loki challenges him to a fight, where he would end up badly beaten. The pirate is likely Rocks D. Xebec, as we see him telling Newgate (Whitebeard) to shut up when the other man admonishes him for taking a blade against a child. At present, Loki says that he was born in the wrong era. The chapter moves to the giants fighting the imaginary monsters.

Dorry and Brogy take down one of the Draugrs. Scopper Gaban is also seen slicing a monster apart with his twin axes. They comment that the monsters are likely weaker since they were created from the children’s imagination. Unfortunately, the firefighters are unable to extinguish the fire and the sleepwalking children head straight toward the furnace. Elsewhere, we see Gunko telling Killingham how the kids will wake up when they fall into the burning fire and die writhing in pain. Just as they’re about to enter the fire, Jinbe—who was in Collun’s boat, uses his powers to put out the fire with a massive amount of water. In the end, we see Gunko, angry about her plan failing, standing in front of Collun.

The latest chapter really upped the stakes for the giants. With three of their best fighters—Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji--out of the picture, The Straw Hats will have to deal with Gunko on their own. The giants are busy fighting the monsters and saving the children who still haven’t woken up. But fans are most excited to learn about Loki’s past with Rocks D. Xebec—who was one of the most notorious pirates of the golden age and Gol D. Roger’s rival. What ultimately became of Loki and Rocks’ unlikely connection is an intriguing mystery for everyone.
