The latest chapter of the Blue Lock manga began with a lot of hope. Nagi was finally done depending on Reo’s passes for his goals and wanted to make a place for himself. However, in the end, his weakness came out and proved that even now, he can’t play on his own without Reo, which means there’s very little hope of him becoming an egoist. Nagi tells Reo that he doesn’t have to pass to him anymore. Reo already secured his survival with his own goal, and Nagi wants to do the same by himself. If Reo is with him, Nagi will rely on his friend and their football won’t become the world’s best. Nagi has to learn to fight on his own, much like Reo. Nagi starts running with the ball as soon as the match starts again, not listening to Reo’s pleas. He does some really impressive moves to bypass the opponents and Agi is proud to see Nagi acting on his own. Chigiri passes to him and Nagi thinks about how Reo might disappear and he might never be able to play football with him again. Nagi still wants to play with Reo and promises to become stronger. Just as he aims for the goalpost, Otoya appears before him. He says that they have countermeasures for all of Nagi’s moves.
This shocks the genius player, as he becomes confused and nervous. Although the goalpost is right in front of him, there are three people stopping him. Suddenly, Reo calls for Nagi from the side and his resolve to do this alone disappears. Nagi passes the ball to Reo and hopes to end it together. However, Bachira intercepts the ball and says that if he doesn’t go on alone, he has lost as an egoist. He scores the match winning goal for Barcha, In the present, we see that Bachira secured the 5th position at the auction, with Chigiri and Reo in the 6th and 7th positions. Many other players including Kunigami, Otoya, Yukimiya, Karasu, Niko, and Zantetsu have made it to the top 23. However, the genius Nagi Seishiro is 24th on the list, which means that he won’t make the U20 World Cup team.
Blue Lock Chapter 298 review

I think this is the first time I’ve felt so angry with both Nagi and Reo. However, it’s also true that if you can’t score goals on your own for yourself, you can’t wish to become a true egoist worthy of Blue Lock. Everyone, including Bachira, Chigiri, and Reo proved that they’re true egoists. Unfortunately, Nagi couldn’t let go of his dependency on Reo until the last moment. I don’t know if this is the end of Nagi’s football career, but it certainly is the end of his U20 World Cup dream, and Reo will go forward without him. Although I’m heartbroken, I understand why Kaneshiro drew Nagi and Reo’s co-dependency in sharp contrast to players like Isagi, Rin, and Bachira. Although Nagi will be able to join the team if someone else is eliminated, it seems unlikely.
