Dante meets Vergil in action-packed new trailer for Netflix's Devil May Cry

Netflix’s Devil May Cry animated series has unveiled a new trailer.

Netflix has released a new trailer for its upcoming anime adaptation of Devil May Cry, featuring – of all the possible musical accompaniments to Dante’s shoot-em-up hijinks – the song Last Resort by Papa Roach. The edgy early 2000s tone this adaptation is carving out for itself is very much purposeful, given that Dante himself has been an edgy cheese ball since the days of 2001’s Devil May Cry.

Devil May Cry drops new trailer, confirming Vergil and Lady appearances

Netflix’s Devil May Cry animated adaptation has dropped an all-new trailer, teasing the forthcoming adventures of Dante (Johnny Yong Bosch), the wisecracking demon slayer. The trailer dives into the basic premise of the series’ debut season: an army of demons led by White Rabbit (Hoon Lee) is out for blood in the city, unless Dante is delivered to them. White Rabbit is a notable addition to this series, considering that he spins out of the official Devil May Cry 3 prequel manga, not the core game series.

As Dante battles an entire army of demons, perhaps with more nonchalance than is advisable, he runs into Lady (Scout Taylor-Compton). Her armour-clad appearance sets her apart from the games here, as she appears to be part of a regiment of human soldiers distrustful of demons, and those with demon blood. Unfortunately, Dante is a member of the latter party.

After a montage of intense action sequences animated by Studio Mir (including, among other things, Dante once again wielding a motorcycle as a weapon and unleashing his Devil Trigger), viewers are treated to an unexpected surprise: Vergil (Robbie Daymond), who emerges from flames to invite Dante for a friendly catch-up. What could they possibly have in common with each other?

Devil May Cry will start streaming on Netflix on 3 April, 2025.
