The second season of the hit high school mystery also confirmed its opening theme song through an official trailer.

The anime series Shoshimin: How to Become Ordinary has revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that its second season is set to premier on 5 April, 2025, alongside a new key visual and official trailer teasing the show. The second official opening theme song is performed by Yorushika, titled “The Martian,” featured in the trailer.

Shoshimin plot, cast, and other details

The first season of Shoshimin aired from July to September 2024 with 10 episodes, and was animated by studio Lapin Track. The anime is based on a mystery novel series written by Honobu Yonezawa, which was first published in 2004.

MyAnimeList describes the plot of the first season as:

Jougorou Kobato has a habit of inserting himself into other people's problems. After realizing his detective skills are neither wanted nor appreciated, he makes an agreement with his shy friend Yuki Osanai to become ordinary together. Now entering high school, they aim to be perceived as regular people, yet Kobato cannot help but fall back into his deductive ways when faced with everyday mysteries.

Unfortunately, mundane occurrences are not all the duo stumbles across. As they go through their school days trying to avoid drawing attention to themselves, Kobato and Osanai at times get caught up in incidents that put their plan of a peaceful, average life at risk.

Mamoru Kanbe directed the first season, with Toshiya Ono writing series scripts. Atsushi Saito designed the characters, and Takahiro Obata composed the music. Considering this, it’s most likely that the staff are reprising their roles for the second season alongside the main cast, which includes:

  • Jogoro Kobato - Shuichiro Umeda
  • Yuki Osanai - Hina Yomiya
  • Kengo Dojima - Makoto Furukawa
  • Takahiko Urino - Teppei Uenishi
  • Tokiko Nakamura - Yume Miyamoto
  • Yuta Hiya - Seiichiro Yamashita

Any additional cast has not been revealed as of yet.
