Amazon Prime Video will stream the new Gundam anime worldwide, simultaneously with Japan.
Amazon Prime Video has announced that it will stream the premiere of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX worldwide, simultaneously with Japan. The series will debut on Tuesday, 8 April, on the Prime Video streaming service in over 240 countries and territories around the world at the same time as Japan.
Additionally, subtitled and dubbed versions of the anime’s episodes will be available on the day they premiere. New episodes will premiere on Prime Video every week.
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX to stream on Amazon Prime Video
Fans of the mecha genre are keenly awaiting the premiere of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, seeing as it sees two giants in the genre coming together to co-produce the series: Studio Khara, known for working on the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy, and SUNRISE, known for working on various anime projects in the Gundam franchise.
Thankfully, the wait is almost over. Amazon Prime Video has picked up the series for a global simultaneous release with Japan, including dubbed and subtitled versions of new episodes premiering every week. Preceding its release, however, is the theatrical release of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-, a big-screen re-edit of the series’ first few episodes.
Via a press release, country manager of Prime Video Japan, Keisuke Oishi said of this week’s streaming announcement:
“At Prime Video, we curate a diverse selection of content for our customers worldwide with Japanese animation being one of our most popular offerings [...] Following our successful global streaming of acclaimed anime works like Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time and the theatrical anime Look Back, we are thrilled to present Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX to our Prime members in this milestone year—celebrating 46 years since the birth of the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise and the 30th anniversary of the Evangelion franchise."
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX director Kazuya Tsurumaki also said:
“I am honored to serve as the director for Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, the latest installment in the long- running Mobile Suit Gundam series. ‘FLCL (Fooly Cooly)’ was enjoyed by many fans overseas, which brought me great joy. Now, after all these years, I am truly delighted to be able to present this new title through digital streaming. I sincerely hope audiences around the world will watch and enjoy it."
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX follows a young high school girl named Amate Yuzuriha, who lives a peaceful life in a space colony. However, this peace gets disrupted when she meets a war refugee named Nyaan, who pulls her into an illegal mobile suit duelling competition.
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video this 8 April, 2025.
