Kowloon Generic Romance story and other details
As mentioned before, the anime series is based on the popular manga of the same name by Jun Mayuzuki. The author is also known for his other series After the Rain. The anime was announced in October 2024 alongside a live-action movie starring Riho Oshioka and Koshi Mizukami. The manga is serialised in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine and has 10 tankōbon volumes as of yet.
The story is set in an alternate reality Kowloon Walled City, Hong Kong. Reiko Kujirai, a realtor, falls in love with her co-worker and senior Hajime Kudou. The two get along well, although Kudou is put off by Kujirai’s love for all things new and high-tech. He seems to enjoy living in the cramped yet comfortable past that Kowloon offers. But one day, things come to light when Reiko starts realising that she might be living someone else’s life.
