Fans finally got a good look at what the Gunjō no Asteroid anime movie is going to bring. Along with the trailer available on the EMOTION Label channel on YouTube, the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the movie has also revealed a new key visual for the animated film.
If you are a fan of this franchise, then you might already know that this is a movie remake of the original Space Battleship Yamato season 3 anime series. Other than that, it also has elements from the 1980 feature film Be Forever Yamato. The movie is being directed by Naomichi Yamato, with Harutoshi Fukui as the scriptwriter and supervising director. Hideki Oka, who worked on the previous two films, will also work on this one as the co-writer. Nobuteru Yūki is again the character designer with Junichirō Tamamori, Mika Akitaka, and Yasushi Ishizu in charge of the mechanical designs. The CG producer for the film is Hiroyuki Gotō while Shōsuke Uechi is the CG director. The sound director of the project is Tomohiro Yoshida. The movie’s theme song Eureka is being performed by TRUE.
The first film of the series was Dark Invasion, which came out on July 19, 2024. The second instalment, The Assault of the Burning Sun, was released on November 22, 2024. Both movies did pretty well in the Japanese box office. This movie series is also a sequel to the 2022 duology Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2205, which had two movies: Takeoff and Stasha.
