The legendary Yasuomi Umetsu creation is set for a fiery Summer release.
Clockwork Girl, the first instalment of Yasuomi Umetsu's VIRGIN PUNK, will be screened in Japan starting 27 June, 2025. Yasuomi Umetsu himself directed the series and was also responsible for character design. Umetsu will collaborate with the studio SHAFT to bring his original work to life.
For the series composition and script, Yuya Takahashi was trusted by Umetsu to provide structure and coherence to the storyline. Takahashi's plot development and character creation skills have already been proven thanks to his involvement in the Lupin the Third anime series and movie.

VIRGIN PUNK follows a bounty hunter protagonist called Ubu. The story will involve her struggles against her past in a futuristic dystopian world. However, neither Shaft nor the series director have announced an official synopsis of the story yet.
The anime marks Umetsu’s first project-wide directorial role since 2014’s Wizard Barristers, and his first Shaft-produced series. However, Umetsu already worked with Shaft productions on other projects, such as Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story and Pretty Boy Detective Club.
