The new Gundam movie is slated to premiere on American soil on 20 February.

Japan Society, in collaboration with GKIDS and Bandai Namco Filmworks, has revealed that the Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- anime film's North American premiere screening is set for 20 February. The screening will be held at Japan Society in New York City, with tickets going on sale on 13 February at Japan Society’s official website.

GKIDS also acquired theatrical distribution rights for Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, and will screen the movie in select North American theaters starting February 28.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX first premiered in Japan on 17 January at over 400 theatres nationwide. The film debuted at #1 at the Japanese box office in its opening weekend, and has earned a total of 598,832,300 yen (or about US$3.83 million when converted) in its first three days. The movie is a re-edited version of some of the episodes of the upcoming Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX television anime.

The anime series was first revealed during the ‘Gundam Conference Winter 2024’ livestream in December 2024, alongside an official trailer. Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is the first Gundam anime to be co-produced by Studio Khara alongside Bandai Namco’s Sunrise. Studio Khara also previously worked on the Rebuild of Evangelion films.

The story is set in an alternate version of the Universal Century timeline, and features a changed outcome to the One Year War between the Federation and the Principality of Zeon, where Zeon emerges victorious. It follows a highschooler named Amate Yuzuriha five years after the One Year War, who becomes embroiled in chaos upon meeting the war refugee Nyaan.

Kazuya Tsurumaki is directing the anime. Yoji Enokido is the script supervisor, working alongside script writer Hideaki Anno. Take designed the characters, while Ikuto Yamashita is the mechanical designer.
