The story of GUILTY GEAR STRIVE: DUAL RULER takes place in a world where magic has replaced modern science and technology. Some people created forbidden humanoid biological weapons known as Gears, who eventually rebelled against humanity. Although they won the devastating crusades, the losses left too much of a mark on humanity’s mind to ever be forgotten. Years later, Sin Kiske (a half-human half-Gear child) is seen attending the wedding of his human father Ky and his Gear mother Dizzy. Though taboo, people start celebrating this union. Suddenly, the celebration is cut short by a mysterious girl who hates Gears.
