Toi-san wa Seishun Shitai! anime movie announced for 18 July

A brand new trailer has been released for the upcoming film.

The upcoming anime movie, Toi-san wa Seishun Shitai! Baka to Smartphone to Romance to, which was announced back in January 2025 just revealed new information. The official website and X (formerly Twitter) account of the series announced that the movie will be released in theaters on Friday, 18 July, 2025. A brand new trailer for the movie has also been revealed along with staff information.

The official website confirmed that the movie is being produced by Seven Arcs. Mankyuu is directing the project with Youichi Katou writing the scripts. Akemi Kobayashi is the character designer while Haru Yamada is the sound director. STPR MUSIC, and AniTone are handling the music while Hiromu Mizutani is in charge of the background music. Kazuki Yanase is the publicity producer. So far, the original creator Jel is the only cast to have been revealed.

The Toi-san series is created by Jel, member of the J-Pop group Strawberry Prince and a live-streamer. He’s also involved in the planning, character design and other aspects of the film. Strawberry Prince leader Nanamori is also part of the planning and production of the project. STPR Inc. and advertising agency Dentsu are part of the production committee. Shochiku is distributing the movie in Japanese theaters.

The Toi-san collection of short videos first started coming out on Twitter in 2019, and quickly spread to other platforms such as TikTok and YouTube. There are over 1000 short videos across all platforms with over 10 billion combined views. The series follows an ordinary girl named Akane Toi who was expecting a very normal high school experience. But this changes when an overly enthusiastic boy named Jel drags her into the school’s ‘Youthful Romance Club’, a group dedicated to chase down any youthful or romantic occurrences. Although it’s a parody of the popular Otome dating games, the series has gained massive popularity over the years.
