Sound! Euphonium: The Final Movie announced for 2026

A brand new teaser visual was released for the upcoming movie.

Saishuu Gakushou Hibike! Euphonium aka Sound! Euphonium: The Final Movie is set to release next year. The anime film project was announced during the 10th anniversary event of the series. The official website and X (formerly Twitter) account has also revealed a new visual to commemorate the occasion.

Sound! Euphonium: The Final Movie details

The latest announcement revealed that the upcoming movie will be a theatrical version of season 3 of the anime series. Previously, similar movies have been released for season 1 and season 2 of the show. The third and final movie will be released in 2026, although a definitive release date hasn’t been announced as of yet. A trailer highlighting key moments from the anime series has also been released.

The Sound! Euphonium anime series is based on Ayano Takeda’s musical drama novel series of the same name. A manga adaptation illustrated by Hami was also published in the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! Web website. The first season of the anime, produced by Kyoto Animation, came out back in 2015. The theatrical version of the series, titled, Sound! Euphonium: The Movie – Welcome to the Kitauji High School Concert Band, came out the following year. 

The second season of the anime started airing in 2016, and the movie, titled Sound! Euphonium: The Movie – May the Melody Reach You! followed in 2017. Two animated movies were released in 2018 and 2019 titled Liz and the Blue Bird and  Sound! Euphonium: The Movie – Our Promise: A Brand New Day. The third and final season of the anime aired in 2024, with the movie on the way.

The story of Sound! Euphonium revolves around Kitauji High School Concert Band Club, which has lost its glory days. But when a new and strict advisor is appointed, the band starts to improve drastically as tension between the members run high. Protagonist Kumiko Oumae and her fellow club members all start fighting over solos as the day of the competition creeps closer.
