Japanese digital advertising company CyberAgent Inc. has established a new subsidiary anime studio.

In an official statement released today, 10 January 2024, CyberAgent, Inc. has revealed a new anime production studio called Ca Soa Inc., with the goal of creating high-quality Japanese anime works.

The studio will be headed by Masakazu Ogawa as CEO, a former Sunrise producer known for titles like Gundam Build Fighters, Gundam Build Fighters Try, Mobile Suit Gundam AGE, and Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans.

Takahiro Yamauchi, who is currently the president of CyberZ inc, as well as Senior Managing Executive Officer, and Director COO for AbemaTV, is also listed as director for CA Soa. The studio is currently located in Shibuya, Tokyo, but will open an office in Nerima this spring.

Via machine translation, Masakazu Ogawa commented on the establishment of CA Soa: “I would like to break through the sense of stagnation that permeates the anime production environment with new technical skills together with creators, and continue to create attractive works that can be used worldwide.”

Besides opening a new anime studio, CyberAgent also established Cygames in 2011, which has produced popular games such as Rage of Bahamut and Granblue Fantasy. CyGames would later open an anime division with an animation production subsidiary, Cygames Pictures. Cygames Pictures would work on anime productions based on and inspired by its games.

In 2017, CyberAgent would form the CA-Cygames Anime Fund to invest in anime IP (intellectual property) in collaboration with Cygames. In February 2024, Cybergames established its Anime & IP Business Headquarters to focus on IP development, anime planning, and production.
